The government has released the draft Master Plan for Saint Martin’s Island, aimed at controlling unplanned tourism, protecting the island’s fragile ecosystem, and ensuring its sustainable management.

According to a press release from the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, the draft plan has been uploaded to the ministry’s website (www.moefcc.gov.bd) for public review.

All ministries, departments, agencies, stakeholders, and members of the public have been asked to submit their written opinions on the draft Master Plan by December 20, through the email address env2@moefcc.gov.bd.

The ministry has also sought feedback on the draft “Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) Directive for Plastic Waste Management, 2025.” Comments on this draft may be sent to env3@moefcc.gov.bd by the same deadline.

The ministry expressed hope that with active participation and constructive suggestions from all concerned, a comprehensive and effective plan can be finalised to safeguard the environmentally sensitive and nationally important Saint Martin’s Island, while also strengthening the country’s efforts in plastic waste management.
