The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has announced plans to observe Martyred Intellectuals Day on December 14 and celebrate Victory Day on December 16.
BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi shared the programs during a press conference at the party’s central office in Nayapaltan following a joint meeting with the party’s associate organizations.
During the meeting, they honored the memory of the Declarer of Independence, freedom fighter, and BNP founder Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, offering prayers for his departed soul.
To commemorate Martyred Intellectuals Day, Rizvi announced that BNP leaders and activists will pay tribute to the martyrs at the Mirpur Martyred Intellectuals Memorial in the morning on December 14. The party will also lower the national flag to half-mast and hoist black flags at all its offices, including the central office in Nayapaltan.
Additionally, BNP will hold a discussion at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh at 2 PM on Friday, and its various units will organize similar events nationwide.
For Victory Day, Rizvi stated that BNP will hoist both the national and party flags at all its offices on the morning of December 16. Senior party leaders and activists will lay wreaths at the National Mausoleum in Savar. They will also visit the grave of the late Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman in Sher-e-Banglanagar, laying a wreath and offering prayers.
On December 15, BNP will hold a discussion at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh at 2 PM. On December 16, an open music concert titled Sobar Age Bangladesh (Bangladesh Before All) will be organized at Manik Mia Avenue at 3 PM to celebrate Victory Day.
The BNP’s central office in Nayapaltan and the BNP Chairperson’s Gulshan office will be illuminated in celebration. Various BNP units and associated organizations will also hold special programs nationwide to mark the day.
