Bangladesh have officially secured their spot in the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup, despite a narrow seven-wicket defeat to Pakistan earlier in the tournament. The Tigresses’ place in the marquee event was confirmed after West Indies, although victorious in their final match against Thailand, failed to surpass Bangladesh on net run rate.

The final day of the ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifiers was packed with high drama and anticipation. Bangladesh ended their campaign with four points from three matches, finishing with a net run rate (NRR) of +0.423. West Indies also finished with four points but had a slightly lower NRR of +0.422—just 0.001 behind Bangladesh.

With Bangladesh out of action on the final day, all eyes turned to the decisive clash between West Indies and Thailand. Batting first, Thailand posted a competitive 166 in 50 overs, thanks to a well-crafted 57 from Naruemol Chaiwai and a late flourish from the lower order. In response, West Indies needed to chase the target in just 10.1 overs to overtake Bangladesh on NRR.

The Caribbean side made a blistering start, led by openers Rashada Williams (54 off 20 balls) and Stafanie Taylor (63* off 21 balls), reaching 168 in 10.5 overs. Despite their explosive effort, they missed the qualification mark by just four deliveries.

Bangladesh’s consistency earlier in the tournament proved decisive. A dominant opening win against Thailand by 9 wickets and a solid showing throughout the group stage helped them edge out the West Indies and secure a well-earned place in the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup.
