Newly-appointed Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin and four Election Commissioners—Md Anwarul Islam Sarker, Abdur Rahmanel Masud, Begum Tahmida Ahmad, and Brigadier General (retd) Abul Fazal Md Sanaullah—were sworn on Sunday at the Supreme Court Judges’ Lounge.

Chief Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed administered the oath at 1:30 PM (24/11/24), with Supreme Court Registrar General Aziz Ahmed Bhuiyan overseeing the ceremony. The event was attended by judges of the Appellate Division, members of the election commission search committee, and officials from the Election Commission and the Supreme Court Registrar General’s office.

President Mohammed Shahabuddin had appointed AMM Nasir Uddin and the four commissioners on November 21 under Section 118(1) of the Constitution, based on recommendations from a six-member search committee. The Cabinet Division issued gazette notifications regarding their appointments on the same day.
