BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has cautioned that delaying the next general election will lead to “greater conspiracies.” Speaking virtually from London at a program held at Chuadanga town football field yesterday, Tarique emphasized the need for a timely, free, and fair election to address the nation’s challenges.

“The autocracy that was overthrown through a popular uprising is not idle. They are constantly conspiring with their local and foreign allies,” Tarique said. He warned that prolonged delays in holding elections would worsen public health, education, agriculture, business, the judiciary, and administration –– issues that originated during past autocratic rule.

Highlighting the importance of a neutral election, Tarique stated, “Only a fair election under an interim government can elect true representatives of the people, who will work for the country’s welfare and initiate necessary reforms.”

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir echoed Tarique’s sentiments, expressing confidence in the party’s leadership and future goals. “We await the day when our leader [Tarique] will join us. With his guidance, we believe no obstacle can stop us from achieving victory,” Fakhrul said.

Calling on the youth to play a pivotal role in shaping the nation’s future, Fakhrul underscored the necessity of elections to combat ongoing conspiracies. He reiterated the party’s commitment to immediate reforms in the electoral system, police, administration, judiciary, and economy, assuring that further changes would follow post-election.

“The BNP does not seek elections for its own benefit but to save the nation,” Fakhrul stated, urging for broad public support to ensure the success of these reforms through unbiased elections.
