Bangladesh Bounces Back with Victory Over Yemen in Davis Cup Group Stage

The Bangladesh tennis team made a strong comeback in the “2024 Davis Cup Asia/Oceania Group-5” tournament, defeating Yemen in their second Group D match on Thursday in Isa Town, Bahrain.

In the first singles match, Mohammad Rustam Ali secured a hard-fought victory over Yemen’s Mohammad Makki, winning 5-7, 6-4, 6-4. However, Zarif Abrar fell to Yemen’s Al Ansi Hassan in the second singles, losing 3-6, 3-6.

Bangladesh clinched the tie with a decisive win in the doubles event, as Hanif Munna and Zarif Abrar outperformed Yemen’s Al Ansi Hasan and Issaq Al Hasan 7-5, 6-4.

The team will face Tajikistan in their next match tomorrow.

Earlier, Bangladesh suffered a 3-0 loss against hosts Bahrain in their opening match. The tournament, organized by the Bahrain Tennis Federation under the sanction of the International Tennis Federation, features teams from 15 countries, including Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, and the Philippines.
