Bangladesh Govt Increases Age Limit for Public Service to 32

The government has raised the age limit for public services to 32 as job seekers were demanding for raising age limit for job entry to 35 years.

The council of advisers at a meeting today approved raising the maximum age limit for applying for public jobs to 32 years, said a press release issued by the Cabinet Division here.

Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus chaired the meeting.

The maximum age limit for recruitment in all cadres under the Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) and all other government jobs will be 32.

The new age limit will be applicable in the autonomous and semi-autonomous bodies with necessary adaptations.

In the case of defense services and law enforcement agencies, their respective recruitment rules will remain applicable.

Besides, under Section 59 of the ‘Government Service Act- 2018,’ the Ministry of Public Administration will amend the ‘Bangladesh Civil Service (Age, Qualification, and Direct Recruitment Examination) Rules- 2014’ to include the provision allowing a candidate to appear for the Bangladesh Civil Service examination up to three times, the release said.

Currently, the maximum age of entry into public service is 30.
