Two market monitoring teams from the Ministry of Commerce imposed fines totaling Taka 4,500 on several businesses during separate operations in the city today.
A team, led by Senior Assistant Secretary Fuara Khatun, carried out an inspection at the Mirpur Shah Ali City Corporation Market Kacha Bazar, where traders were fined Taka 1,500 for failing to properly display price lists and other violations, according to a press release.
Another team conducted a drive at Shonir Akhra Kacha Bazar, reviewing the buying and selling prices of essential goods. Several traders were fined Taka 3,000 for various irregularities.
The inspection also revealed a slight decrease in the prices of eggs and onions. Both teams urged traders to display, regularly update, and maintain accurate price lists for key essentials, including chicken, rice, potatoes, and onions.
