A high-level US delegation visiting Bangladesh has reaffirmed its commitment to help the country expand its economic opportunities, strengthen institutional capacity, and promote human rights, according to a statement from the US embassy.
“We are committed to helping expand economic opportunities, build institutional capacity, uphold human rights, and mitigate climate risks with our partner, Bangladesh,” the embassy stated on its official Facebook page after a meeting between Foreign Adviser Md Touhid Hossain and the US delegation at the state guest house Padma in Dhaka.
Brent Neiman, Assistant Secretary for International Finance at the US Department of Treasury, and Donald Lu, Assistant Secretary for South and Central Asia at the US State Department led the US team. The delegation is also scheduled to meet Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus and attend a working lunch with the foreign secretary.
Earlier, a US State Department spokesperson highlighted that the discussions will focus on how the US can support Bangladesh’s economic growth, financial stability, and development goals.
