Rana Flowers, the newly appointed UNICEF Representative to Bangladesh, presented her credentials to Touhid Hossain, Adviser to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, today. Having assumed her role on August 5, Flowers pledged to advance children’s rights and improve essential services, including health, nutrition, and child protection.
“This is a crucial time for Bangladesh,” Flowers noted, highlighting the challenges faced by children and families due to recent violence, the cyclone, and flooding. She emphasized UNICEF’s commitment to both immediate humanitarian aid and long-term development.
With over 35 years of experience in international development, Flowers has previously served as UNICEF Representative in Vietnam, China, Cambodia, Mongolia, and Belize. She will lead UNICEF’s efforts in collaboration with the government and partners to enhance the well-being of children across Bangladesh.
