Lieutenant General (retd) M Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, the Home and Agriculture Affairs Advisor to the interim government, has announced that the government will soon begin a reinvestigation and fair trial into the 2009 BDR carnage. The tragic mutiny at the BDR headquarters in Pilkhana in February 2009 led to the deaths of 74 individuals, including 57 army officers.

Chowdhury made the announcement following a meeting with Swedish Ambassador to Dhaka, Mr. Reto Siegfried Renggli, at his secretariat office this morning. He affirmed the government’s commitment to upholding citizens’ rights, promoting good governance, and ensuring justice.

“As both an advisor and a retired member of the Bangladesh Army, I am dedicated to achieving a fair trial for the BDR carnage,” Chowdhury stated.
