Nahid Islam, Adviser to the Ministries of Information and Broadcasting, and Post, Telecommunications, and ICT in the interim government, resigned from his post today.

He submitted his resignation letter to Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus, also stepping down from all government committees.

Speaking to reporters outside the State Guest House Jamuna, Nahid Islam confirmed his decision, stating, “I have submitted my resignation to the Chief Adviser.”

Nahid joined the interim government on August 8, 2024, following the fall of the Sheikh Hasina-led Awami League government amid a student-led movement. As the coordinator of the anti-discrimination student movement, he was appointed as an adviser under the leadership of Professor Yunus.

In his resignation letter, Nahid cited his belief that, in the current political climate, he should align himself with the students and the people in the greater interest of the nation.

Expressing gratitude to Chief Adviser, he acknowledged his efforts in leading the country towards a future free from discrimination, hunger, and poverty.
