The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has called on Chief Adviser Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus to announce the election roadmap at the earliest.
“We hope the chief adviser will declare the election roadmap soon,” BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir told reporters this evening after a meeting with the chief adviser in front of guest house Jamuna.
The BNP delegation, comprising standing committee members Salahuddin Ahmed and Major (Retd) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed, held a one-and-a-half-hour discussion with Dr. Yunus.
Finance Adviser Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed, Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs Adviser Dr. Asif Nazrul, and Industries Adviser Adilur Rahman Khan were also present at the meeting.
During the discussion, the BNP delegation submitted a letter titled “Six Months of the Interim Government: Suggestions on the Prevailing Situation of the Country” to the chief adviser.
Mirza Fakhrul emphasized that BNP urged the government to conduct elections promptly based on a consensus after implementing essential reforms.
In response, the chief adviser assured the delegation that the government is working towards holding elections by December this year.
