Dhaka University (DU) authorities have decided to end the affiliation of seven government colleges with the university, effective from the 2024-25 academic session.

Following this decision, no new students will be admitted to Dhaka University under this affiliation for the upcoming session, according to a DU press release issued today.

The decision was made during an urgent meeting chaired by DU Vice-Chancellor Professor Niaz Ahmed Khan and attended by the principals of the affiliated colleges at the VC’s office.

The press release stated that the previous admission process for students of these colleges has been revised, moving up the timeline by one year. Consequently, the seven colleges will no longer admit students under Dhaka University’s banner starting from 2024–25.

An expert committee formed by the Ministry of Education on December 29, 2024, will determine the number of seats and admission fees for the colleges for the upcoming session.

The DU administration assured that it will take full responsibility to ensure the academic progress of students currently enrolled in ongoing programmes under the university’s affiliation.
