Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) has issued health guidelines for airlines and airport stakeholders to take precautionary measures against the Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV). The directives, issued by HSIA Executive Director Group Captain Kamrul Islam in coordination with the Health Directorate’s Disease Control department, aim to enhance safety while reassuring the public that there is no immediate cause for alarm.
Under the new guidelines, all passengers, staff, and visitors are encouraged to wear masks and use hand sanitizers to minimize the risk of transmission. Individuals exhibiting symptoms of HMPV—such as fever, cough, or shortness of breath—are urged to report to the airport health services promptly.
Airlines operating domestically and internationally have been instructed to prioritize preventive measures, particularly for flights arriving from countries with reported HMPV cases. Crew members are required to inform airport health services if passengers exhibit symptoms during a flight.
The guidelines also include detailed health protocols for handling passengers with potential symptoms to ensure the safety of all individuals at the airport.
These precautionary measures underline HSIA’s commitment to public health and safety amid global concerns about HMPV.
