Sri Lanka’s High Commissioner meets with BGMEA Administrator

Dharmapala Weerakkody, the High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to Bangladesh, made a courtesy visit to Anwar Hossain, the Administrator of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) and Vice-Chairman of the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB), at the EPB office today.

During their meeting, they discussed ways to further strengthen trade and investment ties between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, according to a press release.

BGMEA Administrator Anwar Hossain highlighted the potential for collaboration between the two nations in areas like joint ventures, technology transfer, and skill development.

He expressed strong interest in exploring new opportunities for cooperation with Sri Lanka, particularly in the textile and apparel manufacturing sectors.

Anwar emphasized that Bangladesh and Sri Lanka have complementary strengths in the textile and apparel industries and could benefit from closer cooperation.

The High Commissioner stressed the importance of strengthening economic ties with Bangladesh and seeking new avenues for collaboration.

Both parties agreed to work together to take concrete actions to unlock the full potential of their bilateral economic relationship.
