Nahida Akter has made history as the first Bangladeshi woman to take 100 wickets in Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is). The left-arm spinner achieved this milestone during Bangladesh’s 16-run victory over Scotland in their ICC Women’s T20 World Cup opener in Sharjah.
Nahida, who claimed the final wicket of the match, reached the landmark in her 88th T20I appearance. At 24, she also becomes the second-youngest woman to accomplish this feat, following Rwanda’s 20-year-old all-rounder Henriette Ishimwe.
In November of last year, Nahida became the first Bangladeshi cricketer to win the ICC Women’s Player of the Month award.
